- Denim company operating in Adana produces cotton on 17 decares in order to use raw materials obtained from environmentally friendly agricultural practices in its products - Mahir Tulay, General Manager of Realteks: - “God willing, we will produce more regenerative cotton in the coming years and we will put regenerative cotton into our production line”
In line with the demand of many brands, a denim company in Adana started to grow regenerative cotton, which they use as raw material, on 17 decares in cooperation with farmers instead of importing it from Australia and Brazil.
Realteks company in Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone decided to grow regenerative cotton in Çukurova instead of importing it following the decision of many brands to gradually switch to the use of sustainable raw materials.
The company, which has made pilot planting on 17 decares in Karataş district, aims to use its own regenerative cotton in its products by expanding the planting area according to the results it will receive.
Mahir Tulay, General Manager of Realteks, told AA correspondent that their goal is to make good products and offer the right products according to the countries.
Pointing out that not only quality is important in production, Tulay said:
“For years, issues of environmental awareness were not at the forefront, but in recent years, these issues have started to come to the agenda more and more. We have set these goals for ourselves. We use chemicals that do not harm nature and the environment. Most recently, we started working on regenerative cotton. There is a lot of water use, chemicals and fertilizers when cotton is grown. These are all things that harm nature. We have set our goals for that cause. We decided to produce our own cotton regeneratively together with our farmers. We took the first step this year.”
Tulay stated that they cooperated with a farmer in Karataş district for regenerative cotton production.
Explaining that they will harvest the product they grow in October, Tulay said:
“We started working on reducing the amount of irrigation, fertilizers and pesticides as much as possible with regenerative cotton. As Realteks, our goal is to make sustainable production. The raw material cotton is also the most important factor. Hopefully, if we are lucky, we will produce more regenerative cotton together in the coming years and we will put regenerative cotton into our production line.”
