New Professions to Be Identified in Smart Agriculture

According to the National Employment Strategy prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, new professions emerging in the field of smart agriculture will be identified under the coordination of the Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK), and their standards and qualifications will be established.

The strategy document is built on four key policy areas: "Enhancing skill adaptation through green and digital transformation in labour markets," "Developing inclusive employment," "Strengthening the relationship between social protection and employment," and "Promoting sustainable employment in rural areas."

The Ministry will collaborate with various public institutions and organizations to ensure sustainable employment in rural areas. As part of this initiative, MYK will determine new professions emerging in smart agriculture and set their standards and qualifications. Additionally, vocational courses will be organized by İŞKUR and public education centres to meet the demand for a skilled workforce in this sector.

Efforts to Promote the Use of AI and Robotics

According to the strategy document, efforts will be made to introduce artificial intelligence and robotics technologies in small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises. Research and development (R&D) activities led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, in collaboration with public and private R&D centres, will be intensified. These centres will focus on employing young and educated individuals through the adoption of new technologies.

In addition to increasing the number of skilled workers in agriculture, studies will be conducted to identify and address the working conditions, issues, and needs of those currently employed in the sector. Private employment agencies will be provided with guidance and counselling services through İŞKUR.

Support for Smart Agriculture Applications

To support alternative farming methods alongside traditional agriculture, initiatives will be implemented to expand the use of smart agriculture, soilless farming, and irrigation technologies. Training programs will be organized to enhance the professional skills of agricultural workers.

İŞKUR will extend job coaching services, which provide job-seeking skills and career guidance to unemployed individuals, to rural areas. In this context, entrepreneurs wishing to establish their own businesses in specific rural sectors will be offered consultancy, job coaching, and financial resources.
