ANKARA (AA) - MUSTAFA ÇALKAYA - Hacı Ömer Güler, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Seed Growers' Association (TÜRKTOB), said they want to strengthen administrative, commercial and technical cooperation with Russia in the field of seed production, adding, “We are working hard to increase export opportunities to meet Russia's seed demands.”

Güler told AA correspondent that relations between Turkiye and Russia have gained momentum with the impact of global developments.

Noting that Turkiye exported 70 million dollars worth of seeds to Russia last year, Güler said, “International policies applied to Russia offer new opportunities for Turkiye in seed trade. We have intensified our efforts to meet the increasing demand after the Russia-Ukraine War. We are working hard to increase export opportunities to meet Russia's seed demands. In this process, we are working in coordination with our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. We are increasing our trade not only with Russia but also with our nearby geography.”

Following the new regulations approved by Russia on seed production, a technical delegation from this country examined the laboratories in Türkiye, Güler said, adding that the laboratories of Çayırova, Samsun, Antalya and Beydere seed certification test directorates and the laboratories of the Seed Registration and Certification Central Directorate in Ankara received approval.

Güler pointed out that this development was an important step in increasing seed exports to Russia and said that they immediately took action to strengthen trade relations following the developments.
